Drive and Handling
The standard Taycan features a single AC permanent synchronous motor that produces up to 402 horsepower when paired with the standard 79.2-kilowatt-hour Performance Battery and up to 469 horsepower with the 83.7-kilowatt-hour Performance Battery Plus option. The Taycan 4S doubles the number of AC motors for all-wheel drive-like traction and a significant power boost of 522 horsepower on its standard battery. If you’re craving more power, the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S both deliver with 670 and 750 horsepower, respectively, when equipped with the standard battery. A 2-speed transmission mounted on the rear axle handles power delivery for all Taycans.
EPA-estimated driving ranges throughout the Taycan lineup range from 201 miles for the Turbo S to 227 miles for the standard Taycan. Opting for the extra capacity of the Performance Battery Plus pushes the Taycan’s range even further – up to 282 miles for the standard model. Charging can be done with the included 9.6-kilowatt charger or an available 150-kilowatt onboard charger. DC fast charging is also available at speeds of up to 270 kilowatts. An available adaptive air suspension not only provides excellent ride comfort but also flexible ride height adjustability to reduce aerodynamic drag.

Overboost and Launch Control
The overboost feature sends extra power to the electric motors, giving the 2021 Porsche Taycan a brief performance boost whenever you want it. This feature works in conjunction with Launch Control to deliver blistering acceleration and impressive top speeds. With Launch Control enabled, the standard Taycan hustles to 60 mph from a standstill in 5.1 seconds while the Turbo S does it in a scant 2.6 seconds.
Regenerative Braking
The Porsche Recuperation Management system gives the Taycan an extra range boost by reclaiming kinetic energy that’s otherwise lost during braking. The regenerative braking feature activates whenever you need to slow down or come to a complete stop. The Taycan’s powerful ceramic-coated brakes only come into play whenever you need stronger stopping power. This helps reduce wear and tear on your brakes while adding up to a third of the Taycan’s range back into the battery.
Technology
The 2021 Porsche Taycan is a technological delight to the senses, starting with the driver-oriented 16.8-inch curved display. A 10.9-inch center console display handles audio and navigation functions while an 8.4-inch panel located just below displays media, phone, and the vehicle’s battery state and charging status. Porsche Voice Pilot lets you control a variety of in-vehicle features with a combination of touch and voice commands. The Porsche InnoDrive system also leverages a host of sensor and navigation data to create the most ideal adaptive cruise control experience possible, while features like Active Lane Keeping and Night Vision Assist help drivers remain alert.
